TRIGGER WARNING

In this episode of #TheBulliedBrain we discuss domestic abuse, domestic violence and gender based violence with a focus on how these forms of abuse impact the brain.

Jen talks about allegations of sexual violence within a national sport organisation in Canada and she talks about individuals who exhibit such abusive behaviour have likely been exposed to toxic masculinity in the form of homophobia and misogyny which can negatively shape their brains.

Jen emphasises the importance of holding perpetrators accountable and suggests that rehabilitation through intensive work with mental health professionals is necessary.

The conversation also touches on the difficulties faced by victims who come forward and the harmful effects of revictimization. Jen also shares personal experiences including instances of abuse and the challenges of addressing them within the legal and educational systems.
